Trying Times

After the Tumbril comes the Terror.  An ill wind indeed.

Marie Antoinette wasn’t being haughty when she uttered the words often rendered into English as “Let them eat cake”.    She was being clueless.  It never occurred to her that if the bread available to the peasants was both expensive and moldy, there wouldn’t be some breakfast rolls ready to hand that would substitute nicely.

The situation in the US of A isn’t quite to the point that our non-functioning parasitic aristocracy is being rousted out of their mansions and loaded onto tumbrils for a brief trip to the public square and the guillotine, but this is foreseeable.

Trying times.
